We were so privileged to welcome Katelyn Cummins, Rose of Tralee, to our school recently. Our pupil Ciarán acted as Katelyn’s rose buddy during the festival last summer, and Katelyn was delighted to come and visit him and his school mates. The entire school community was blown away by Katelyn. She was so kind and patient with the children. She told us all about her busy year as a Rose, and about her life growing up on the Laois Kilkenny border. Katelyn played a wide variety of sports as a child and into adulthood; and credited them with developing her drive and work ethic. She also spoke about growing up on a farm and her journey to becoming an electrician. She advised the children to say yes to opportunities that come their way. The children were wonderful, asking interesting questions and singing beautifully. Please enjoy these photos and videos with more to come.
