This year our school community has begun the journey to becoming a restorative school. Restorative practices are a set of skills and a philosophy for building positive relationships and addressing conflict in a healthy way that focuses on repairing harm rather than assigning blame. They are used in schools, workplaces, and communities to create a sense of community, build empathy, and resolve conflict through respectful dialogue and accountability.
In the first year of transition to Restorative Practices in Kilfinny National School the focus is on building a foundational understanding of affective statements and restorative questions as a practice among staff with students in daily interactions both in the classroom and the wider school environment.
